Current Status : OS : win 2003 , DB: MS SQL 2005 , ECC 5
to be upgrade : OS : win 2008 , DB MS SQL 2008 , ERP ehp6.
I am planing to do like below.

| 2 | Install MS SQL 2008 in new WIN 2008 server |
| 3 | Import on new system with installation master |
| 4 | Upgrade Ehp5 from ECC5 |

Can someone share experience/knowledge of disaster recovery scenarios in MSCS/SQL Server/SAP. One of our customer has R3/SQL Server2000/Win 2003 (Cluster).
We would like to evaluate best possible options for the Disaster Recovery which are supported by SAP.
We have thought about
1. Log shipping
2. Standby Database
3. Restore backup on new cluster
4. Homogeneous System copy.
We do not want to go for first two and would like to explore on 3rd and 4th option.

I am trying to connect to one of the SQL Server in my Domain. I have made entries as mentioned by SAP note in DBCO Transaction. When I am testing connection through program 'ADBC_TEST_CONNECTION' it is showing me following error:

Dears,
I need to do performance tuning of my demo system as its response time is very slow.In performance tuning I am little bit aware of its basic concept like how to find that which response time is low and how to recover that but issue is that we daily stop our this server in the evening and start it in the morning so due to it I can not follow that concept of finding which response time is slow as due to buffer refresh daily obviously its database time will be high.
Now I want to check that whether all parameters like buffer are set correctly to provide us a good response time.
One more thing I want to confirm My RAM is 4 GB initially I was using 12 GB paging memory now i am thinking it to change it to 16 GB,Will it effect my system performance and how can i make it effective in my SAP system.
Please suggest.

i have a question related to the "online index rebuild".
Yesterday i had a performanceproblem related to old update statistics and index fragmentation.
(Slow scan on clusterd index).
I'm on NW 7.02 and SQL 2008 R2 SP1 CU1.
In DBACOCKPIT -> Configuration -> SAP Configuration, build online index is active.
In SE14 i selected the table KNA1 and the primery index KNA1~1 an pressed the activate and rebuild button.
The following statments were sent to the DB (rebuild protocol).

Now have a look at the attached KNA1_rebuild.jpg.
During the rebuild of the clustered index, all select statements during the rebuild were blocked or very slow.
(missing clustered index?).
2 Questions:
1.The first statement drops the constraint, and the second adds the constraint.
But what happens to the index? I expect to see a statement like this
ALTER INDEX KNA1~0 ON [sid].[KNA1] REBUILD WITH (ONLINE = ON, MAXDOP = 1)
No drop / add statements..
2. Why does the Online rebuild parameter does not work as expected?
Should i do the rebuilds directly in the DBACOCKPIT SQL Statement area to be sure the "ONLINE = ON" Parameter is set?

After look for any similar situation, I didn't found nothing except this SDN Thread: BI : msg " Database error 7719 at EXE " during loading Here the solution applied is not valid to our system because the OSS Note 1494789 - Enabling 1000+ partitions support on SQL Server is by SQL Server 2008 SP2 (not our version).
On OSS Note 1010854 - Table with too many partitions on SQL Server 2005/2008 I am not really sure about if the solution(symptom2) fits to our problem.
And on OSS Note Note 869407 - Partitioning on Microsoft SQL Server i didn't correct with tool RSDD_MSSQL_CUBEANALYZE because we don't have enabled the (vardecimal) compression.
Do you know how can I achive this error???
